Latest plug-in integrates seamlessly between ShoreTel UC and Skype.
An updated plug-in with seamless integration with Skype for Business puts ShoreTel’s telephony controls within the Microsoft unified communications offering.
ShoreTel released the ShoreTel Telephony for Microsoft plugin to provide its customers using Skype for Business with a way to get greater telephony control within the Skype client. The plugin enables users to dial contacts from within Skype, launch conference calls, transfer calls, get access to voicemail, view and set presence information and gain control over other ShoreTel UC preferences.
“We recognize that some ShoreTel customers will use Skype for Business, so this new plugin provides the power of ShoreTel telephony features inside that client, ensuring users have an easy, seamless integration and experience,” said Eugenia Corrales, vice president of product at ShoreTel, in a statement.
Seamless integration from Shoretel
ShoreTel is also using the integration as a stepping stone toward shifting customers using Skype for Business entirely over to ShoreTel clients in time.
The plugin, which supports Lync 2013 and both Skype for Business 2015 and 2016 in Office 365 and on-premises, is a client-side integration, so it doesn’t require changes to the environment itself.
