The starting gun fired for this year’s Bath Half Marathon at 11:00 am on Great Pulteney Street. Among the 15,000 runners, were our very own Matt Delargy and Ben Wood.
The guys pulled on their running shoes to take part in one of the biggest 13-mile events in the country which attracts many top class athletes from around the world.
Race Director Andrew Taylor, said: “It also looks likely to be yet another record-breaking year for charity fundraising. We would like to congratulate the winners and everyone who crossed the finish line.”
After last year’s cancellation due to snow, organisers were keen to make the 2019 race bigger and better than ever.
Matt, who ran in support of Diabetes UK said: “it was good to raise some money for a charity which is close to my heart”.
Ben who supported Save The Children with his run said: “my first half marathon was a great experience – will definitely be trying to beat my time next year!”.
And the finish times?
Race winners were Christopher Thompson, who was the first runner across the finish line with a time of 63 minutes and 10 seconds and Katie Reed who won the women’s race with a time of 72 minutes and 44 seconds.
Ben crossed the finish line in 2hrs 13 minutes with Matt logging a time of 2hrs 33 minutes.
Congratulations to them both. A fantastic effort – we’re all very proud!
